This aspect of Figurative Modelling has seen a meteoric rise in visibility, probably due to the popularity of painted “Living Statues” - as shown to the left by Rosemarie.
There have been a number of artists who have looked to migrate from the Face Painting seen at village fetes and fairs around the UK - and some of them have managed the migration well. However, - the suitability of the model for these often intricate, transient works of Art, is often forgotten.
It is essential that for the long period (often over 7 hours) the model remains as still as possible to enable the artist to create the piece unhindered by the models “Natural” requirements to move, stretch sometimes - even breath!
Once the piece is completed, it is essential that the model is capable of adopting - and holding a suitable pose that compliments / accentuates the character into which they have been encapsulated.
