Rosemarie as a Living Statue "Manga Major" for a recent Corportate Event.

Body Art   Modelling

This aspect of Figurative Modelling has seen a meteoric rise in visibility, probably due to the popularity of painted “Living Statues” - as shown to the left by Rosemarie.

There have been a number of artists who have looked to migrate from the Face Painting seen at village fetes and fairs around the UK - and some of them have managed the migration well. However, - the suitability of the model for these often intricate, transient works of Art, is often forgotten.

It is essential that for the long period (often over 7 hours) the model remains as still as possible to enable the artist to create the piece unhindered by the models “Natural” requirements to move, stretch sometimes - even breath!

Once the piece is completed, it is essential that the model is capable of adopting - and holding a suitable pose that compliments / accentuates the character into which they have been encapsulated.

The work is often extremely detailed, requiring a great deal of planning and preparation, - fitting the design to the morphology and bone structure of the model as in the “Flaming Skull” carefully created by Wales’ John Davis with Rosemarie here in the Newport Tattoo Festival.

When the finished work is to be displayed in uncontrolled environments or when minors may be present, (female) models wear nipple shields and thongs - as in the pieces above termed “PG 13” in line with movie ratings

However as these artifacts can interfere with the intricate designs, where possible artist and models often prefer to work with a blank canvas , - i.e.  nude as in the image to the left created by Emma Cammack one of the UK’s leading Body Artists.

The resulting works can be stunning in their subtlety or complexity and are seen on Television Screens, in Movie and Magazine Adverts and gracing the halls  and stages of corporate events around the Globe.

Rosemarie’s wide experience in modelling is seen and valued by many involved in this genre and in addition to this, her mental and physical condition and training add a further element to any piece in which she is involved. Her abilities not only inspiring the artist - but between them - the audience re-enforcing her reputation as an ”Inspirational Model”.

Body Painting and Body Art are genres that are gaining more acceptance in the eyes of the “Art World” and although the results are transitory - the public are becoming more and more interested in the genre as the quality of the work goes from strength to strength.

The simplicity of a metallic body sheen however, will always be impressive as can be seen here with a piece created by one of a number of Artists with whom Rosemarie was collaborating for the 2010 World Body Painting Championships.

Fortunately, Rosemarie’s success as a Figurative Art Model, has enabled her to work with an increasing number of highly skilled and talented Body Artists.

Rosemarie’s ability to hold complex and dynamic poses for protracted periods obviously assist the artists to create their intricate works.

Additionally however, Rosemarie’s skills, experience and flair in front of the camera enable her to deliver subtle, but highly relevant poses to enhance the works - as you can see here with this startling piece from Simon Smith (Merthyr Tydfil) - who was also responsible for the photo.
