PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION Leamington Spa December 2009
|
|
The arrival of the Digital Camera, has brought a resurgence in interest in Photography and along with it, a host of photography courses. The august halls of Compton Verney hold a variety of art courses (many of which featuring Rosemarie as the model).
One such, “Surrealistic Photography” was led by Ray Spence in July, where a group of 10 photographers worked for a full day to create a number of challenging and often thought provoking images.
One of the photographers - Helen Ashbourne, from the Leamington Spa Photographic Society, subsequently entered the annual competition of the society and this image, FOUND IN A GENTLEMAN'S CUPBOARD AT COMPTON VERNEY
Here though are a few of the other images taken during the course at Compton Verney
If you or your photography club, society or group would like to discuss working with Rosemarie, please simply use this link to contact her.

LIFE DRAWING on “The Costas” Rojales November 2009
|
|
We are delighted to have seen that Figurative Art (Life Drawing) is on the increase around the globe - not just in the UK! Martin Robinson - who has been associated with figurative Modelling since the 1980s - is now working as an artist and photographer from Rojales near Guadamar Spain.
From his studio - attached to his house on the hills above the plain, Martin runs a weekly all day Friday Figurative Art workshop, presenting a range of local and UK models to artists from the Spanish and “Ex Pat” communities. He also helps art groups in a widening area by assisting them in sourcing models to sit for the classes
- Gata
- Los Alcazares
- Oliva
- Margarida
- Javea
Martin’s reputation reaches far and the models he is able to present, travel in from all over Europe and in early 2010, - the Rojales Friday group should be spending a Friday sketching from a model who will be joining the session from the West Cost of the USA!
Earlier this year, Martin asked Rosemarie to journey to Alicante to model for his Friday workshop and in mid November, she was delighted to finally make the trip to Rojales to model for Martins Group. The days session was broken by a welcome lunch of Tapas which had been freshly prepared and presented by Martin’s wife Barbara.
You can contact Martin about his Spanish figurative Art Workshops via the link in this picture taken when a class was sketching a model at the Salt Lakes.
Alternatively, if you would like to talk to Rosemarie about her modelling for YOUR workshops, classes, or group, use this link.

LIFE DRAWING Hen Party Cardiff October. 2009
|
|
We have had strong links with The Register of Artist’s Models (RAM) - the countries only officially recognised body for models in Figurative Arts, with Rosemarie being a Regional Officer.
The resurgence of interest in Figurative Arts, has co-incided in a trend for Stag and Hen Parties to be more than the traditional “Binge Session” of recent years and it is no surprise that one of the most popular activities in this field is the “Life Drawing Hen Party”.
Rosemarie’s extensive experience in participating in and running modelled me uk’s Life Drawing classes made her the obvious choice when RAM were looking to expand their Nationwide Life Drawing Hen Parties to the Midlands and West country.
The combination of Rosemarie’s extensive experience and skill in running Life Classes, combined with Rosemarie’s and RAMs list of suitable (Talented and “Hunky”) models ensures that these events will be FUN, ENJOYABLE and an “ART-BLAST”! Events have already taken place in Scotland, Oxford, Reading, Bath, Bristol and Cardiff, with others booked in Birmingham and further north in Chester.
This picture (right) was taken at a recent event for Bride “Lou”, her Hens and Stu, one of our models. If you are or know of anyone who is contemplating such an event and would like to see what is involved, - it is simple.

LATEX FASHION MODEL Oxfordshire Sept. 2009
|
|
 LATEX FASHION
The range of work that Rosemarie is being asked to undertake is continually expanding - and following hot on the heels of the Fashion shoot for which she was retained recently in North Wales, here are the first pictures released from this most recent fashion shoot.
When one hears that the Range of clothing is “Latex” - the thought of “Fetish”, “Erotic” and similar areas on the periphery of modelling are perhaps one’s first thoughts - but here Rosemarie shows that these garments can be worn with Style, class and elegance.

BODY ART Merthyr Tydfil August 2009
|
|
It seems that Wales is a hot bed of Body Art and this month, Rosemarie was called upon again to assist in the creation of a piece for one of the country’s leading exponents of the Art Form - Simon Smith of Merthyr Tydfil.
Pieces such as this “Dark Demonic Temptress” (DDT) which you can see on the left (Photo courtesy of www.fineart.me.uk) take a great deal of time to create.
The initial design is defined, drawn out and the colour scheme discussed with the model. For DDT, which has a number of prosthetics, careful measurements of the models physique have to be taken - along with reference photographs to allow the artist to gauge the final piece against the initial design.
The final studio day is a hive of activity, starting at 10.00, when Simon and two assistants, Jess and Rheanon start work on Rosemarie by preparing her arms to have the “Spines” attached.
Each of these had been individually sized and crafted to meet the contours of Rosemarie’s torso from the measurements taken at the initial session and prepared to enable the majority of the day to be taken up with the various stages of applying the paint.
However, even so, the delicate work of applying the layers of paint with brush, sponge and eventually air brush did not begin until after a much deserved lunch break.
Refreshed, Simon and his two assistants re commenced their labours and the more painstaking task of accentuating Rosemarie’s anatomical detail with the design.
Highlighting bones, musculature and natural lines of stress resulting in a creation that is a natural fit for the original design.
The three artists continue their work into the late afternoon, finally applying the finishing touches to Rosemarie’s face before a short rest followed by a change of pace as Simon exchanges the air brush for a camera.
The activity now moves through to the Photographic Studio, where Jess and Rheanon concentrating on tripods, filters, Gobos and snoots to prepare the area for photo shoot that in a period of frenetic activity produced over 100 images.
Simon’s practiced skills in lighting and composition came into play during the session to capture his creation in a series of spectacular images of his design on Rosemarie.
Rosemarie experience as a model and dancer enabled her to deliver a flowing series of poses that brought to life the idea - turned into a design which was then the living, lithesome reality and embodiment of the Dark, Demonic T emptress
For Simon and his team, this was their final work before the Welsh Body Painting Festival on 09th August, where Artists from across the globe will gather to compete, exchange ideas and create works of art that will disappear at the end of each day!
If you are a Body Artist and would like to discuss working with Rosemarie on a Body Art project, or would like to incorporate Living Statues embellished with themed Body Art at a corporate event or party, please use this link to find out more.

LIFE DRAWING Swindon August 2009
|
|
As Sunshine and warm weather are so unpredictable in the UK, it is always heartening to see dedicated Figurative Artists journey to the large, airy Studio Space in Central Old town to draw, paint, sketch the day away rather than sampling the transient delights of the UK’s weather.
The Artists of the Old Town Swindon Figurative Art Group (SOTFAG) however are a hardy bunch and perhaps driven on by the thought of being able to work with and from Rosemarie as their model for the day, members traveled from over a 100 miles to join in today’s Figurative Workshop.
These sessions are always model lead, but we are delighted to usually be able to offer the services of Arran Miles the well known and respected figurative Artist and tutor to offer help, advice and comment on the work during the a.m. sessions.
The Artists not only come from a wide geographical area, today, their experience ranged from Professional Artist through “Hobby Artist” (of 12 years experience) to a GCSE student collecting material for his portfolio to present to college.
SOTFAG is taking a short summer break but if break, but if you would like to contact us to find out about the Figurative Art Workshops in the Autumn, or how else you could have the chance to draw or paint with and from Rosemarie - please use this link to e-mail us.
If you would like to see the schedule for the dates of the SOTFAGs workshops for the coming 12 months - just follow this link.

BODY ART Maesteg July 2009
|
|
Rosemarie’s activities as a model take her from one end of the UK to the other - and beyond. In June, she was working a lot closer to hand with Emma Cammack (see the story below) who is a short drive away from Rosemarie’s Wiltshire base. July saw her involved in another Body Art project - not quite so close to hand - over the border to Maesteag in a Group of Body Artists (from as far a field as Stoke) who came together to work with a troupe of four models.
At 16.30 when the artist Jo (from www.squeak-entertainments.co.uk) had almost completed the piece of Manga inspired art, Tony Orwin took Rosemarie away to a quiet riverside location where he was able to capture a number of great images.
However, some 7 hours earlier, the process started when Jo introduced Rosemarie to the concept with the simple out line sketch which detailed the main areas of colour planned and an indication of the prostheses that would be used.
Throughout the day, the four Body Painting Artists collaborated and helped each other with materials, tips, hints and ideas whilst the models attempted to stand stock still watching their bodies so slowly morphed from the familiar flesh tones to multi coloured hues and patterns. .
In common with many such Workshops and events, this one was carried out to “PG 13 Standards” That is to say that the models wore thongs and nipple shields - which limit the art, but allow the models and artists to work and exhibit in an environment where minors may be on hand (provided there is parental supervision).
Rosemarie can be seen here to the left of the picture being painted by Jo, whilst John Davis works on Gemma to the right, “Smudger” Smith concentrates on delivering a metallic finish to Rebecca.
The day was an intense experience for all concerned but the shared experience carried them through and as always happens with Body Art sessions, the final pieces did not emerge until the final elements were added many hours later.
Prior to venturing out into a quiet par to capture some “Location” images for the new “BODY ART” section of this web site (it should be ready within the week) Rosemarie posed for a number of pictures in the Bar of the venue that supplied the Venue for the Workshop - much to the amazement of the “Locals” (Hidden out of the shot (Left).
A short walk through the street of Maesteg took Rosemarie and (Photographer) Tony Orwin to a great Bridge / Tunnel complex that delivered a fitting back drop for their photo shoot.
It is often difficult to remember that these models are not wearing Body suits - but are covered from head to foot in Paint! The effect can be stunning, shocking - but always highly entertaining
If you would like to book Rosemarie to work with you as a Body Artist - or to discuss her performing for you at a Corporate event / Party, please use the link below.

BODY ART Wiltshire June 2009
|
|
Sometimes, “Life” delivers seemingly meaningless blows to us, - however, there are occasions when serendipity throws a bonus that makes it “All Worthwhile”! - whilst perhaps not in the same league as finding you are the winner of a “Role Over” - one that is non the less very welcome.
In this instance, the “Lottery” win was actually finding that one of the UK’s leading practitioners of “Body Art” - Emma-Jane Cammack, lived a 15 minute drive from Rosemarie’s base in SWINDON.
Emma has been a Professional Bodypainter since 1992 and her work has been seen on film, television, adverts and in print across the globe. Her client list includes a range of high profile international companies.
Although her professional work is mainly in the commercial arena, her main passion is creating fine art Bodypainting images which celebrate the body in a subtle but beautiful manner.
Emma is fascinated with optical illusions / camouflage and enjoys using Bodypainting to create elaborate and well crafted tricks of the eye as in the piece above (right) concealing the model in “wall paper art”.
With two such prominent practitioners of the Arts being in such close proximity it was perhaps only a matter of time before they collaborated on their respective “Arts”, and late June 2009 saw Emma deliver a striking and subtle piece based on a Cherry Tree she had seen recently,
After a relatively short session in her Wiltshire Studio, Rosemarie ventured out into Emma’s Garden where photographer Tony Orwin was able to capture the essence of Emma’s subtle and enigmatic work set against the richness of varied foliage.
As Emma also runs Bodypainting master classes in her UK studio it is possible that you may be able to meet Rosemarie - or “Paint” her if you attend one of these sessions, - details of which can be found by using the link in this further piece of Emma’s Art.
Of course if you are a Body Art Artists and would like to discuss collaborating with Rosemarie yourself, she can be contacted via this link.

FASHION MODEL Bristol / Swindon June 2009
|
|
Rosemarie Orwin is very well known to artists and sculptors around the UK (and beyond) as being one of the most sought after Professional Figurative Art Models working today.
However, it is a (not so) well kept secret that she is also active in other areas of photographic modelling.
For Rosemarie, the term covers many sub genre, including:
- Parts
- Fashion
- Publishing
- Catalogue
Rosemarie’s reputation around the UK is growing almost day by day and her work comes to her from individuals and companies from an ever widening area. It came as a lucky coincidence recently when two “Local” photographers contacted her to discuss fashion based shoots.

The shoots took place in and around SWINDON and BATH and produced a wide variety of pictures for the photographers, so keep your eyes peeled for pictures of Rosemarie from these sets in the months to come.
You can see a few more examples from these shoots on Rosemarie’s web portfolio, by following the link behind the camera to the right of this text.
However, if you would like to contact Rosemarie about photographic modeling yourself, please do so via this link.

SCULPTURE PARK Guernsey May 2009
|
|
Fate is a strange fellow - and it had seemed to strike a blow when Rosemarie was talking to Martin (see the item below) as when Rosemarie was explaining to him about some of her forthcoming work, she mentioned to him that she was about to leave the area for a short commission in Guernsey, where at one of the venues, she would be being photographed at the Sculpture Park at Sausmarez Manor. Martin responded with - “what a fantastic place, Peter was kind enough to exhibit one of my pieces there last year - its lovely”.
The Manor is actually one of Guernsey’s many tourist attractions, but holds a premier position with the diversity of diversions available and of course, the superb range of Sculptures that the owner (Peter Sausmarez) has placed with painstaking attention to detail around the grounds and sumptuous and extensive Sub-Tropical Gardens
The Pictures that resulted from this part of Rosemarie’s Guernsey Adventure will be featured amongst a wide range of images in Mid September (SWINDON Open Studios).
However, for three hours, Rosemarie walked through the lovely gardens, working with photographer Tony Orwin to create a series of images augmenting some of the wide range of figurative, abstract and other fine examples of sculpture that Peter has carefully selected and positioned around his gardens.
You will also be able to see some of the images on Tony’s (shortly to be “re- invigorated) Fine Art web site which will feature a new series of contemplative pieces of female nudes in yoga poses.
You can see an examples on this page - “Twin Peace” (below left)
Rosemarie and Tony would like to thank Peter and the staff at Sausmarez for making them so welcome during their stay and after having been able to see the Manor, House and Grounds in detail, can firmly recommend it to any visitor to the warm, friendly Isle of Guernsey
A lucky few are actually able to book to stay in Sausmarez Manor itself as Peter can offer two 3* Self contained flats. You can see details of these lovely properties and also how to book them by clicking on the picture of the manor here -
